Are you worried that toddlers, teenagers, and even adults stare at their smartphones at restaurants and cafes are becoming a common sight and that these are accepted as the norm and practice in the digital age?
In this podcast, Dr. Kristy talks about children needing attention, not iPhones. This is definitely a contentious topic, but it’s really important that in this digital age we pause and reflect about how we use technology around children. There is no denying that they will inherit this highly digital world. It’s not about fearing, banging or ignoring the use of technology nor demonizing it, but we need to ensure to teach children how to use technology in healthy and helpful ways to minimize some of its potentially harmful effects. We want to arm them with strategies so they can manage technology and not the other way around where technology manages them.
I talk to parents throughout Australia about screen-time and how parents can help their children use technology in healthy and helpful ways (and also minimise any potential risks).
