Dr. Kristy shares the updated Screentime guidelines released by the American academy of pediatrics titled Beyond Turn it off – How to advise families with media use.
This was introduced to start to open up more nuisance to conversations about children’s screen-time. Many parents disregarded the previous guidelines due to unrealistic statements that limiting screen-time of children aged over 2 to 2 hours a day and under 2 years of age screentime use were strongly discouraged. The latest guidelines are more positive and practical step forward for parents and children. It has a more realistic approach to using screen-time and focuses more quantifying how much.
I talk to parents throughout Australia about screen-time and how parents can help their children use technology in healthy and helpful ways (and also minimise any potential risks).
